While I still spend almost all of my computing time in UNIX, I don’t do as much linux these days as I used to. But when I am “riding the penguin,” my distro of choice remains Ubuntu.

Which is why I was surprised to catch this bit about the redesign to the theme and branding that will accompany next months release of the newest LTS, and will, by extension, be the Linux that I will stare at for the next eighteen months. It’s actually pretty slick, no?

Another Misleading Political Story:

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will write another book, her publisher announced Wednesday.

Wouldn’t you have to write a first book, before you could write “another book”?

“The book will include selections from classic and contemporary readings that have inspired her, as well as portraits of some of the extraordinary men and women she admires and who embody her love of country, faith, and family,” according to a release. “She will also draw from her personal experience to amplify these timely (and timeless) themes.”

Somehow, I have to think Ms. Palin’s favorite bits of American History are slightly different (and less actual) from mine. I would be lying if I said that I was looking forward to the Twit-Queen’s mangling of the historical record to suit her bizarre delusions. Still, it should be hilarious, especially given the failed governor’s breathtaking command of world events.

Apparently, “success” includes stereotypically categorizing your base as either “Calculated Giving” (defined as acting out of pure greed) or “Visceral Giving” (defined as being afraid of the crazy, mixed-up, modern world with it’s President who doesn’t look like they do):

It is as of yet unclear where accidentally leaving this document in a hotel room to be discovered by the mainstream media and publicly broadcast fits into the GOP’s concept of success.
